After a case was filed against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act for threatening a senior police officer and another sessions judge of the Islamabad Police at a rally in the federal capital’s F-9 Park, the interior ministry requested written authorization from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s office in order to place PTI Chairman Imran Khan under arrest.

The PTI leader reportedly fled his home in Bani Gala to escape being arrested, though it’s possible he went to Lahore or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa instead. For the arrest of the PTI chair, the interior ministry has requested written authorization from the PM Office. According to sources, the ruling alliance’s parties would unanimously agree to the arrest before it is carried out.

Asif Ali Zardari, a PPP leader and former president, has criticised Imran Khan’s imprisonment. He thinks the ruling coalition will suffer politically as a result of the arrest. While PTI leader Murad Saeed asserted on Sunday night that Imran Khan had been served arrest warrants, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) President Maulana Fazlur Rehman did not express a clear opinion on the matter.

The road leading to Imran Khan’s Bani Gala home has also been closed off to unauthorised visitors, allowing only those close to him and the locals to enter. Additional police have been stationed outside of the mansion.
