ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has decided to attend the Supreme Court on Thursday as it hears the case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over the Panama Papers.
The decision was taken in a consultative meeting of the PTI leadership at Imran Khan’s residence at Bani Gala on Wednesday. He will be present in the apex court while his counsel Hamid Khan will plead the case.
The PTI was scheduled to hold a lockdown which was turned into a ‘Thanksgiving Day’ after the Supreme Court accepted the application and agreed to form a commission against the Prime Minister.
The Supreme Court had on Tuesday sought written replies from the government and the PTI to come up with the Terms of Reference (ToRs) on 3rd November.
A five-member bench comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Hassan is hearing the case against the offshore companies of the family members of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Special security measures have been taken to beef up the security in the premises of Supreme Court of Pakistan for today’s hearing In view of the limited seating capacity in the Court Room No. 1, the entry will be regulated through special security passes to be issued by Supreme Court of Pakistan. Only the
petitioners/respondents whose cases are fixed in Court will be allowed to enter in Supreme Court premises. However, advocates and journalists who regularly come for Supreme Court proceedings will be exempted from passes. NNI
