PESHAWAR: Tehsil Nazims protested during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s speech on Monday, demanding increase in their salaries but the latter rejected their demands saying that no one can pressurise him into doing anything.

While Imran Khan was appreciating Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) local body system during his speech at Qayyum Stadium, Tehsil Nazims started protesting and demanded increase in their salaries and benefits.

During the hustle, Chairman PTI got furious and said that no one can pressurise him, adding that those protesting can remove their misconceptions.

Khan asked the protestors if they had come to serve the public or themselves. He also said that the KP government has introduced the most influential local body system in Pakistan’s history and will also make it successful.

Imran Khan has asked local government (LG), representatives to devote themselves for services and uplift of masses. He said it is high time for the elected representatives to initiate development projects so that the people could give them mandate in the next election.

He assured provincial government’s support to LG representatives and asked them to extend cooperation so that problems of the masses could be resolved.

Imran said that KP government has delegated the powers to LG representatives.

Referring to good governance, he said that police department has been made free from political influence, adding that the people are feeling  secure now and also get respect from the police officials in their daily matters.

JI Ameer Siraj ul Haq, Senior Minister for LG Inayatullah Khan, District Nazim Peshawar Asim Khan also addressed the gathering. NNI
