Improving healthcare, education infrastructure top priority: Minister

Mandi Bahauddin: Punjab Women Minister Hamida Waheed has said Punjab Government was giving top priority to repairing of old buildings of educational and health institutions. She was addressing a ceremony in Islamia High School to start repairing old buildings of schools declared as dangerous. Teaching staff of the school including the head master were present. She said a grant of 7.8 million for repairing scheme of Islamia High school had been sanctioned and funds had been released. Referring to improvement of main health facilities, she said funds amounting to Rs 100 million were spent on renovation, building additional facilities, purchasing new modern equipments for DHQ Hospital and with this expenditure standard of treatment had improved which is clearly visible now. She said efforts continue to restore Engineering and Technology University Rasul which last year was downgraded to college. She said the government’s main focus is on education and health, being vital for progress and development of the country. She instructed Work Department personnel to ensure completion of repairing school buildings and other new development schemes in stipulated time.
