WASHINGTON: The United States has reiterated that it encourages Pakistan and India to act with maximum restraint and work together to reduce tensions in the region.

According to the White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, de-escalating the tension between these two countries is a priority of the United States.

He said improvements in bilateral relations between Pakistan and India could greatly enhance prospects for lasting peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
