KARACHI: (NNI) Sindh Governor, Ishratul Ibad broke his silence on Wednesday, revealing that huge cache of weapons and ammunition recovered from a house in Karachi’s Azizabad area was purchased against army, police and the paramilitary Rangers.
“It was biggest recovery of weapons in Pakistan’s history. We have managed to ascertain period and location of these weapons’ purchase. We believe these military weapons were stored to fight army, police and Rangers and not for target killing,” the Governor told reporters in Karachi. He further revealed that members belonging to a political party’s tanzeemi (organising) committee and other senior politicians were involved in purchase of these weapons. Details regarding suppliers of weapons have also been gathered, he added. Ishratul Ibad said the all the culprits involved in this case will be given exemplary punishment. It may be mentioned here that a huge cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered by police on October 5 during raid on an empty house in the Azizabad area of the metropolis.
Police reportedly seized a large number of weapons including anti-aircraft guns, SMGs, LMGs, sniper rifles, hand grenades, rocket launchers, bulletproof jackets and helmets hidden in the water tank of the empty house. The raid was conducted after the police was tipped off by a political worker already in police custody. Speaking on Baldia factory tragedy, Sindh Governor expressed disappointment, stating that some ‘conscience sellers’ devoured compensation money granted to heirs of more than 300 hundred victims.
“I have instructed DG NAB not to spare a single person involved in this heinous act. It is our responsibility to fulfill promise made to the families of Baldia factory victims,” he said. NNI
