Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja Sunday defended his recent statement on the Pindi pitch by saying that he is a cricketer first and then a chairman.

“First and foremost, I am a cricketer, and I see cricket through the eyes of a cricketer,” Ramiz told media at the National Stadium Karachi.

“I understand there was frustration from fans and there was also my frustration. It was important to clarify how the Pindi pitch had been prepared,” the PCB chairman said.

Ramiz had released a detailed statement about the Pindi wicket, Pakistan’s strength, and other related issues a few days ago.

He described Australia’s visit to Pakistan as a significant achievement for the host nation.

“This is a significant achievement for us. Australia sent their strongest team, and the supporters were ecstatic.”

He stated that when quality players play, supporters flock to the stadium, generating excitement and rejuvenating cricket.

“We put in tremendous effort to get to this level, and we expect to win this series,” the former Pakistan captain, said.

“It’s very meaningful as a perception becomes clear from a security and cricket point of view,” Ramiz was quick to add.

“We will try to put life in the pitches but it will take some time. I had said that it will take time to redo the wickets and in Test cricket, we are very much behind from an infrastructure and pitches point of view. There is still cricket left in the series,” the PCB chief further added.
