ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (INP) Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari has said that human rights and human development are closely intertwined and the post 2015 development agenda should put development of people at its core. He was speaking at the IPU-UN Annual Parliamentary Hearing at the UN Headquarters, New York. Nayyer Bokhari while addressing the hearings first session titled Putting people first the right to development for all, said that development agendas should adequately address human rights of all sections of society without exclusion or discrimination. Particular attention should be given to the rights of vulnerable groups including women, children and disabled, the Chairman said.
The annual Parliamentary hearing opened with welcome remarks from Mr. San Kutesa, President of the General Assembly , Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations and Mr. Saber Chowdhury, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Chairman Senate gave special emphasis in his speech on the steps taken by the Parliament of Pakistan in the direction of inclusive development in favor of disadvantaged and marginalized sections of society.
In his concluding remarks, the Chairman Senate assured the Parliament of Pakistan stands ready to assure its due role in effective implementations and monitoring of post-2015 development agenda and recommended for constant liaison of the relevant UN agencies.
It may be noted that Chairman Senate is leading the Pakistan delegation to IPU-UN Annual Parliamentary hearing and is accompanied by Senator Farooq Hamid Naek, Senator Shahi Syed, Senator Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Senator Malik Rashid Ahmed Khan, Secretary Senate Amjed Pervez Malik and Additional Secretary Senate Dr. Syed Pervaiz Abbas.
