Once again in an attempt to highlight Indian atrocities in held Kashmir and to bring international attention towards the issue, Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has urged the ambassadors of permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the European Union to fulfil their international commitments to the people of the India-held Kashmir (IHK) under the UNSC resolutions. Sartaj also briefed the ambassadors on the exchange of letters between the foreign secretaries of the two countries. The P5 and EU representatives stressed for a peaceful resolution of the issue and acknowledged the importance of dialogue.
It is a welcoming development to bring the Kashmir issue in limelight; it is dire need of time that world leaders should be briefed about human right violations being committed by Indian forces in Indian Held Kashmir, and deplored the lethal use of force against innocent people. Bloodshed in held Kashmir continues and over 70 innocent lives have been claimed by the Indian brutality. Indian forces by violating international human rights are targeting innocent protesters in the valley.
Pakistan has pushed at numerous occasions for bilateral talks to resolve the Kashmir issue but Indian attitude remained inflexible for holding talks with Pakistan.
It is the need of time to work on trust deficit between the two countries in order to resolve Kashmir issue under the UNSC resolutions. India needs to change its rigid stance and intentions of running away from negotiations, Kashmir is disputed land and without its solution peace in the region is not possible.
