At least seventeen people have died and scores of others injured in rain related incidents across the country. According to details, six people died in Gujranwala while three persons of a family died when their house collapsed in a slum area of Islamabad. Heavy monsoon rains are lashing different parts of the country. According to Met Office, Islamabad has so far received 91 milimeter rain while Rawalpindi received 77 milimeter since early this morning on Thursday. It is truth that we can’t fight with the natural calamities but with better preparations we surely can save precious lives. But unfortunately policy makers once again failed to make better preparations during the season of heavy monsoon rains.
