ISLAMABAD: Saira Afzal Tarar accompanied by Secretary Health Muhammad Ayub Sheikh and DG Dr. Assad Hafeez conducted a surprise check at the airport health counter at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad on Thursday evening. The Minister checked the working of staff in the departure lounge responsible for vaccinating travelers against polio and verifying polio vaccination certificates of travelers already vaccinated.
The Minister also checked the working of health personnel in the arrival lounge responsible to screen passengers for Ebola Virus Disease. The Minister instructed the health staff to perform duties vigilantly and said there should be no negligence. She ordered action against a doctor who was found absent from his duty. We are giving top priority to implementing International Health Regulations and cannot afford any slackness in its implementation said the Minister while taking to health staff on the occasion. Secretary Health issued on the spot instructions to check each and every passenger and ensure that they travel only when in possession of valid vaccination certificates.
