ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairperson Imran Khan has objected over Sharifs not appearing before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), asking if they have forgotten they were the accused.
In his tweets posted on Thursday, Imran asked questions pertaining to the summons sent by NAB Lahore to the Sharif family members and their subsequent absence.
He also questioned how and under what law the PML-N ministers can say Sharifs will not appear before NAB. One of Imran’s tweets states the decision to review the case fell under the ambit of the Supreme Court and not PML-N or the Sharifs.
Furthermore, Imran stated the Sharifs request for a stay order on their case stood rejected by the apex court as it has not yet fixed a review date.
Imran’s posts have come after the Sharif family members failed to appear before NAB Lahore when they were summoned.
His tweets are also a reaction to the statements made by PML-N leaders backing the Sharifs over not appearing before NAB and saying the family members would only show up when a verdict is passed over the review petitions they filed in the Supreme Court against the Panama case.
On August 20, the Sharifs were to appear in NAB Lahore but did not show up. According to sources, the six-member team of NAB Lahore was waiting for Sharifs to question them over the London properties.
The team headed by NAB Lahore Director General Shehzad Saleem had summoned Nawaz’s children and his son-in-law MNA Captain (retd) Safdar by 2pm.
