TEHRAN: Hassan Rouhani has been re-elected as Iran’s President after winning twelfth presidential election with a thumping majority.
In a statement, Iranian Ministry of Interior said Rouhani secured 56.88 percent votes, while his opponent Ebrahim Raisi won 38.55 percent of the vote. Conservative politician Mostafa Mirsalim got 1.13 percent, while reformist Mostafa Hashemitaba managed to get only 0.52 percent. The ministry said overall turnout in the election remained above 70 percent. NNI
