ISLAMABAD: Postal Services Minister Maulana Ameer Zaman on Wednesday while speaking in Roze News program Sachi Baat said that serious efforts have never been made to address the grievances of people of Balochistan and added that people of the province must be given their constitutional rights.
In an interview with Editor in Chief Pakistan Group of Newspapers and Chairman Roze News Sardar Khan Niazi the Minister said that people of Balochistan have a lot of just grievances. He said that people of province have no issue with development in others parts of the country but they do wonder why their province is still lagging behind. He said that Metro projects worth billions in Lahore and Islamabad are good projects but why are such projects not initiated in Balochistan.
Zaman said that people in my constituency are forced to drink water from the same place as animals. He said that the entire country uses natural gas of Balochistan but people of the province are still deprived of it.
The Minister challenged the federal government to show even one road that has been constructed under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and added that no development works are being carried out in Balochistan. He lamented that people of the province have nonexistent employment opportunities.
The Minister said that there is a University in almost every sector of the Federal capital but when it comes to Balochistan province it has only a handful of universities. He also lamented the fact that the province has very few National Assembly seats.
The Minister also lamented the fact that people in the province are deprived of even basic necessity of life like water. Zaman pointed that people are forced to conserve water and at times wash their clothes after passage of weeks due to non availability of water. The Minister thanked Editor in Chief Pakistan Group of Newspapers and Chairman Roze News Sardar Khan for raising the issues of the province.
Zaman was appreciative of the role of Pakistan’s armed forces and said that peace has been established in the province due to efforts and sacrifices of the armed forces.
The Minister said there are mineral resources worth billions of dollars in the province and if government is willing the destiny of the province can be turned around by making use of these immense resources.
