ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday urged the British government to reconsider its decision of dropping money laundering probe against Muttahida Qaumi Movement founder Altaf Hussain.
In October last year, British investigative agency Scotland Yard announced that it had wrapped up the money laundering case against the MQM chief over lack of evidence.
According to a source, the Ministry of Interior has written a letter to British authorities, expressing reservations over dropping cases against Hussain and seeking details of the cases registered against him.
It was further stated that the UK government should reconsider its decision under the light of the evidences and information provided by Pakistani authorities, and hinted that the UK government should reopen the cases against Altaf Hussain.
The ministry was of the view that in order to expedite the pending cases against Altaf Hussain in Pakistan it was necessary that the British authorities share the related evidences with the Pakistani counterparts. NNI
