Govt interference in the JIT investigation alarming: Khurshid Shah

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Khurshid Shah termed the allegation of the joint investigation team (JIT) probing into money laundering against Prime Minister’s family report about government interference in the investigation as alarming.

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Opposition leader Khurshid Shah on Wednesday said that the attitude of the government would lead people to stand up and demand justice of their own liking.

He added that ever conscious man was alarmed and disturbed by the JIT report submitted in the Supreme Court.

He said that the Prime Minister must have come to the house and briefed it about his visit to Saudi Arabia. He added that in recent summit in Saudi Arabia against terrorism, the Prime Minister was snubbed and not allowed to address the summit.

Khursheed Shah said the opposition would not create any ruckus in the House if Prime minister come to the house and brief it on the Gulf crisis. He assured that if any member tried to stop him from speaking, he would leave his seat.

Later, opposition lawmakers led by Khurshid Shah staged walkout and boycotted NA session against the ‘blackout’ of opposition leader speech by PTV.

The lawmakers from opposition parties to express their protest staged a sit in in front of the speaker’s dias over the absence of the Prime Minister. They also expressed reservation over government policies. Later they staged a walkout and boycotted the proceedings.

Shah said that he would have thanked the Prime Minister had he come to the Parliament. He wondered as to why the Prime Minister was afraid of the Parliament.
