Says recovered corruption money should be spent on education
HARIPUR: Prime Minister Imran Khan says the government is committed to promote science and technology for progress in the country. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology in Haripur on Thursday. The institution has been established with the collaboration of Austria for promoting the education of artificial intelligence (AI) and engineering. The institute will offer courses in artificial intelligence, engineering, food technology and various other disciplines. “We are moving in the right direction with a focus on education, science, technology and knowledge economy,” said the Prime Minister. He expressed the confidence that the institute will prove to be a major step in promotion of science and technology in the country. “I want to use the money collected by the Assets Recovery Unit and direct it towards education,” Imran Khan said. The premier said education is very important and lauded the KP government for its collaboration with a top Austrian engineering university. “I want a law passed so that the money from the Assets Recovery Unit, which is recovering government money from corrupt people, should be directed to education,” he said. “Education and science and technology are very important,” he said adding “one of Pakistan’s biggest advantages is that it has the second youngest population in the world, he said. The premier urged for choosing a path to transform Pakistanis into a great nation and Allah Almighty will definitely gives success to those honestly pursuing a target. He said that Pakistanis are not willing to become slaves and wanting to make their own way. Communism is disastrous for the nation and the mental barrier for the slavery of the West should be broken. Imran Khan said that Pakistan has capabilities to advance into a development phase by changing the way of thinking. It is the need of time for stepping forward in the field of science and technology for opening a new era of development in Pakistan, he said. Imran Khan said the government is going to collaborate with five Chinese and three Austrian universities for technological advancement in Pakistan. He thanked China and Austria for assisting the authorities in Pakistan as the establishment of the institute was an important project of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government. He said in the second phase of CPEC, special economic zones will be established and industry will be relocated in Pakistan. Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology. “We have now entered the second phase of CPEC with China. We are collaborating with five Chinese universities and three Austrian engineering universities,” he said, adding that this is big news for Pakistan, not just KP or Haripur. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman and Chief Minister Mahmood Khan were also present on the occasion.NNI
