ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid says the government has initiated short and long-term power projects to overcome energy crisis.
Taking part in Radio Pakistan’s current affairs program, he said the government would try its best to mitigate sufferings of masses by minimizing electricity shortfall.
The minister said short-term power projects including Tarbela-four, Neelum Jhelum hydropower project, and three gas based electricity project would be completed in one to three years’ time. He said it would add over 8000 MW electricity in the system.
He said that Quaid-e-Azam Solar energy park was also in the process of completion.
About long-term power projects, Pervaiz Rashid said, work on Bhasha-Diamer dams has been initiated, which will produce cheap electricity. He said transmission and distribution system is also being upgraded.
Talking about the economy, Pervaiz Rashid said, all economic indicators are positive. He said Pakistan has become an attractive country for international investment.
