LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q senior central leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that the instead of setting up an inquiry committee to investigate the leaked story against Army the government wants to set a ‘hush-up’ committee.
Addressing a press conference along with MNA Tariq Bashir Cheema at his residence here on Sunday, he described it as a joke with the nation and the army and asked how a retired judge can hold an independent inquiry into the issue of the leaked story.
He said that the proposed committee is an attempt to bury this very important and sensitive issue and the government has already sent abroad an important character and witness of this issue.
In reply to a question, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that national security breach is a matter of great concern for the entire nation and all those involved in it should be exposed and punished accordingly.
It is pertinent to mention here that soon after the publishing of the controversial story; the prime minister had directed interior minister to hold inquiry into the matter. He was supposed to complete preliminary probe in four to five days but the matter lingered on.
Last week, after sending its information minister packing the government said that it will form an inquiry committee, comprising senior officers of the Inter-Services Intelligence, Military Intelligence and Intelligence Bureau to investigate the matter.
