LAHORE: Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the government counsel had only told fairy tales in the Supreme Court on Tuesday and the demand for the change of the counsel during the Panama leaks hearing proved the uneasiness of the government.
Speaking at a press conference here Sirajul Haq said that the Panama leaks case was not the issue of any individual or party, it was the issue concerning two hundred million Pakistanis and the JI wanted it to be result-oriented.
He said that the JI would not accept anything except a judicial enquiry commission. He said that all opposition parties had been demanding judicial commission that should have the powers to hold trials and investigate the whole matter, and NAB and all other agencies and institutions should be bound to cooperate with the commission.
The JI chief urged the PPP to play an active role on the Panama Papers issues and warned that otherwise people would be compelled to form an opinion that it did not want accountability.
The JI chief said that the visit of the Turkish President to the country was most auspicious and the JI welcomed him wholeheartedly. He said that this visit was taking place at a time when India was creating tension on borders and had martyred seven of our troops.
He said that he had also rang up the PTI leaders and requested them to attend the joint Parliament session to be addressed by the Turkish President.
Continuing, Sirajul Haq said that the government was adopting delay tactics in the Panama leaks case. To a question, Sirajul Haq said he was of opinion that accountability should begin from the Prime Minister as he had personally appeared on TV and offered himself for accountability. He said that the process of accountability should be completed within a specific period and should not continue indefinitely. INP
