ANKARA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that an agreement with the IMF is expected this month.
In an interview with the Turkish media, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan has completed all the conditions of the ninth review of the IMF. Expect to hear good news this month.
The prime minister further said that some measures are taken after the approval of the board, but this time we have taken the measures that the IMF demanded before the approval of the board. Pakistani people have faced challenges in the past and are ready to face challenges in the future if needed.
Shehbaz Sharif said that in April 2022, the country was close to default due to the violation of the agreement made with the IMF by the then government. Devastating floods also added to Pakistan’s woes. Due to the global situation, Pakistan is facing inflation.
