KARACHI: Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Monday said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto would kick start his political career on October 18.

Briefing media persons after party’s Core Committee meeting at Bilawal House, Gilani said that PPP would hold a public meeting at Mazar-e-Quaid on October 18.

“All eyes are now set on Bilawal Bhutto and PPP is the genuine opposition party.” “We have a majority in the Senate. Opposition leader is from the PPP,” he explained.   To a question, Gilani said that PPP was least bothered about Imran.

Briefing the media after core committee meeting of the party here, PPP leader Yousuf Raza Gillani said it was decided in a meeting that PPP would show its public strength in a rally on Oct 18.

The core committee meeting was chaired by PPP Patron-in-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.  He ordered party leaders to mobilize workers for the rally.

Bilawal said those party leaders who were unable to work and use their authority should give chances to other deserving candidates.

He vowed that party workers would be given respect as they were given in the past. The PPP Patron-in-Chief said in the meeting that PPP laid foundation stone of democracy.

Gillani, addressing the media, said Bilawal would start of journey to strengthening the country from rally. He said PPP rendered immense sacrifices for democracy.NNI

Aitzaz advises Sharif brothers to avoid exposure in public

LAHORE: Leader of the opposition in the Senate and senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Aitzaz Ahsan on Monday advised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to avoid public exposure, arguing that ‘Go Nawaz Go’ slogan emerges whenever they are seen in public.

Talking to media persons outside the Lahore High Court Bar office, Aitzaz said he saw a change in the country only in “Go Nawaz Go” slogan as change could not be brought through sit-ins by the PTI and PAT.

He said PML-N has been a big business party, while the PPP represents the working class. Aitzaz said the PML-N policies are against the poor and downtrodden masses, while the PPP makes policies to protect poor countrymen. He said the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took a wise decision of seeking apology from the party worker over mistakes.

Replying a question, the PPP leader said he don’t want to respond to any utterance of Shaikh Rashid who remained minister in each government. Aitzaz said Imran Khan was initially saying that he will not offer even a peon’s job to Shaikh Rashid, while now he is his aide and advisor. He said that the sit-ins seem posing no threat to the government.
