Islamabad: Ina Lepel, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, appointed Arif Saeed as the new Honorary Consul of Germany in Lahore today. She handed over his letter of appointment during an official ceremony. The Ambassador thanked Anees-ur-Rehman, the outgoing Honorary Consul of Germany in Lahore, for his services and presented him with a letter of thanks from State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office Stephan Steinlein.
Anees-ur-Rehman was appointed as the Honorary Consul of Germany in Lahore in 2006 after living in Germany for several decades. In 2014, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his outstanding contribution to the bilateral relations of Pakistan and Germany. Arif Saeed is a businessman from Lahore with strong ties to Germany.
