ISLAMABAD,: General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff, Wednesday stressed over warring politicians to resolve the current political impasse as soon as possible.
This is the second such statement from the Pakistan Army in less than 24 hours as political deadlock in Islamabad persists.
Military sources said that Gen Sharif made remarks during a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz this evening. They discussed the situation in the federal capital in wake of the protests being staged by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek.
The meeting specifically discussed the security challenges which had arisen after supporters of the PAT besieged the Parliament premises.
This is the second meeting between them. Earlier Chaudhry Nisar and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had held a meeting with the Army chief a couple of days ago.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had also held a meeting with General Raheel Sharif Tuesday to discuss the prevailing security in the country and specifically Islamabad.INP
