VEHARI: Funeral prayer of Army officer Colonel Sohail Abid who embraced martyrdom in exchange of fire in Killi Almas area in Balochistan province was offered in native town here on Thursday.
The Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and a large number of senior civil and military officers, soldiers, and relatives of the martyr attended the funeral.
Father of the martyred Colonel talking to the newsmen said that he is proud of his son, who sacrificed his life for the motherland. Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had also expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of Colonel Sohail Abid. PM stated that Pakistan’s valiant forces will not rest till the last traces of terrorist elements are wiped out from Pakistani soil.
In a Tweet, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) quoted the Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa of saying that, “When a soldier sacrifices his life I lose part flesh of my body, that night is always difficult to pass. But we remain fully determined to sacrifice anything and everything for the defence of our motherland”.
The National Assembly on Thursday also offered ‘Fateha’ for the departed soul of Colonel Sohail Abid embracing martyrdom in Balochistan and for innocent Palestinian who were martyred in Gaza by Israeli troops.
During intense exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists on late Wednesday, Colonel Sohail Abid of Military Intelligence embraced martyrdom while four other soldiers got injured in an operation that killed notorious Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) militant Salman Baden wanted for more than 100 murders.
Two of the injured soldiers are in critical condition, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said. INP/News Desk
