LAHORE: Four workers died while 16 others were injured when roof of a garment factory collapsed in Kahna area on Friday.
Rescue sources said that roof of a factory located in Rohi Nullah locality in the provincial capital, Lahore came down when the workers were engaged in their routine work.
Five labourers were buried under the debris of which two died on the spot while three others sustained critical injuries.
Rescue volunteers dug out the bodies and injured from the rubble and shifted them to Lahore GeneralHospital where two other injured succumbed to his wounds raising death toll to four. According to hospital sources condition of the injured labourers was serious.
The factory employees manhandled the mediamen who were there to cover the mishap. The police have arrested two accused.
Meanwhile, PFUJ president Rana Azeem condemned the incident and said that they would protest on Monday if the culprits were not arrested.
The Electronic Media News Cameraman Association has condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.
