Four killed in bomb blast in Tirah valley

LANDI KOTAL: Five people, including a levies personnel, were killed on Monday in a bomb blast in Khyber Agency’s Tirah valley, security sources said.

The remote-controlled bomb went off near a vehicle of a peace committee killing five in Tirah valley’s Akakhel area, security sources added. The vehicle was completely destroyed.

Head of the peace committee, Zarwali Khan and committee members Noor Khan, Hameed Khan and Amir Nawaz were amongst those killed in the bombing. Abdul Manan, a levies officer was also killed.

Rescue teams and security forces arrived at the scene shortly after reports of the bombing, security sources said. Aka Khel is a far-off area with barely any communication facilities. Even the roads are not paved enough for convenient transportation. After the incident, a heavy contingent of security forces has launched search operation in the area.

The incident took place few days after a suicide bomb blast targeted the convoy of the deputy chairman of Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri in Mastung district, roughly an hour east of provincial capital Quetta.
