KARACHI: At least five criminals, including four gang war accused and a dacoit, were killed in separate police encounters here on Saturday.
According to police sources, four members of Uzair Baloch and Shiraz Comrade gangs were killed in two separate encounters in City Town area. They included two key commanders of the groups. The dead were identified as Mullah Naveed, Jehanzaib alias Lahoti, Sheharyar alias Shaira and Jehangir, who were involved in the killing of 12 persons.
A dacoit was killed in a shootout with police in Guzirry area while his accomplice managed to escape.
Meanwhile, the law enforcement agencies continued operations in different city areas. Five suspects were arrested near Muhammadi Ground area of Malir and two others from Garden area.
Rangers arrested two gang war commanders, identified as Jibran and Basid alias Mout from Lyari and two members of a banned outfit from Orangi Town. Arms were also recovered from their possession.
