Four dead, 17 hurt in road accidents

VEHARI, Jan 04 (INP): At least four persons were killed and 17 injured in road mishaps in Vehari and Faisalabad on Monday.

Rescue sources said that a speeding car collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction on Luddan Road near Kotwali Bridge in Vehari. Four persons, including Mukhtar Ahmad, his wife Jamila Bibi, daughter Asima and the car driver died.

The bodies were moved to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for postmortem. The deceased hailed from Faqirwali area of Bahawalnagar.

Meanwhile, 17 persons, two women, were injured when a Layyah-bound passenger bus overturned due to over-speeding near Airport Stop on Jhang Road in Faisalabad district. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, where six of them were stated to be in serious condition.
