ISLAMABAD, Sept 19 (NNI): Mir Murtaza Bhutto will be remembered as the scion of Bhutto family who endured the rigours of exile, witnessed the tormenting of his mother and sister, the assassination of his father and his younger brother but who refused to compromise with the
dictatorship.
This was stated by Co-Chairman PPP former President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari on the 18th death anniversary of Mir Murtaza Bhutto falling on Saturday September 20.
Mir Murtaza was gunned down under most mysterious circumstances close to his residence in Karachi on September 20, 1996. The police officer investigating the assassination was also murdered under mysterious circumstances.
Mir Murtaza’s assassination was a macabre plot to exterminate a Bhutto and at the same time to overthrow the PPP government of his sister.
It is my conviction that nothing remains secret forever and as the wheels of time turn the assassins of Mir Murtaza would not only be exposed but also punished.
Mir Murataza was a man of great courage who lived an eventful life dedicated to fighting against dictatorship, the former President said in his message.
Mr. Zardari also prayed for eternal rest to the soul of Mir Murtaza and a high place in heaven for his and the souls of those killed with him.
