In the Paktika province of Afghanistan, a death sentence has been handed down for blasphemy against the Sharia and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

According to the International News Agency, the Taliban Ministry of Good and Evil in Afghanistan has announced that a person named Abdul Aleem Khamosh has been found guilty of blasphemy.

The statement from the Ministry of Good and Evil further states that the accused Abdul Aleem also confessed to his serious crime in court.

However, Saif Khaybar, a spokesman for the Ministry of Good and Evil, did not say when the accused was arrested and where he was tried.

Some users on social media claimed that Abdul Aleem Khamosh is a school teacher and was arrested when he was telling students that religious education is important but modern education is more important.

One user also claimed that initially the Taliban court sentenced him to two years in prison for opposing the government, but later the charges were changed to blasphemy and he was sentenced to death.

The family of the accused has not come forward, nor has his lawyer issued a statement.

Human rights organizations have criticized the teacher’s execution without any legal freedom or access to fair justice, calling on the international community to take notice.

It should be noted that this is the first time that someone has been sentenced to death for alleged blasphemy during the Taliban’s four-year rule, although several people have been detained before on charges of “atheistic ideologies” or “preaching Christianity.”
