A spur has been breached near Thatha Sialan in order to save Muzaffargarh from flood destruction,. With the breach the flood water has made its way to Taliri Canal and is spreading in the surrounding areas of Moradabad and Thatha Sialan.  Now nation is faced with same situation which has gone from bad to worst as nearly two lakh seventy six thousand six hundred eighty one persons have so far been evacuated by Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122 and other departments. However, evacuation of stranded people is still underway. Emergency has been declared in Taliri areas of the city and asked the residents to move to safer places.

More dykes are being breached to save major cities of Jhang, Multan, and Muzaffargarh as floodwaters continued moving towards Sindh after playing havoc in the villages of Punjab and Azad Kashmir. The dykes were breached to safe Jhang city but to avail as several parts of Jhang city were badly affected by the floodwater.

Nearly 24 people including army official lost their lives Sunday in flood related incident in Multan and Hfizabad. The flood had caused huge loses in southern Punjab. Dykes are being breached to save the cities but to no avail as the gushing floodwater continued making its way and now heading towards Sindh. Multan, Muzafargarh, Uchsharif, Bahawalpur, and Athara Hazari areas have been badly damaged by the floodwaters and torrential rains that continued on Sunday.

Federal, Punjab governments, Pakistan Army, Navy and other rescue teams are working round the clock to save the lives of people. So far over 37000 people have been rescued by the army men. On the special directives of the Prime Minister and CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, the NDMA with the help of other teams has started assessing the damages caused by the floods The masses are suffering long due to the floods for the last many years as none of the government took the mater seriously and failed to devise comprehensive strategy to deal with the calamity. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif have had whirlwind visits to the flood-affected areas not only to sympathize with the flood-victims but also to assure them of all the help in their rehabilitation

In 2010 the NDMA was caught off the guard. The authority in particular and other relevant quarters in general were not expecting the floods which affected nearly 20 million people, causing 2,000 casualties and billions in losses of property and livestock. Similar devastation was caused in 2011 and 2012 but the loss of life was mush lesser than as after the 2010 flood, most of the flood affectees opted to stay out of their native towns

The PML-N government striving hard to minimize the damages caused by the floods and working on war footing basis to provide relief to the affectees but situation demands concrete measures to avert any such calamity. The NDMA, PDMA, Flood forecasting department and other concerned quarters need to revisit plans and come out with comprehensive strategy to minimize the damages to the lives, property, crops land and the livestock. People affected by the floods in 2010 are complaining that despite the promises made by the government, they haven’t received any cheaques till now. Most of the people who lost their lives in the floods were those who refused to leave their houses. The survival reportedly complained that they have lost trust on the system. The black sheep in the government institutions have pocketed the funds which were suppose to be distributing among 80, 000 families displaced by the flood in 2010. The sitting government has to review the situation with utmost care and launch probe into the embezzlement of funds which were meant for providing relief to the flood affectees and making arrangements to avert the calamity that hits the country after two or three years.

It is matter of great concern too that India keep violating the Indus Treaty pact and discharging water to save its land without giving enough time to the Pakistani government to take precautionary measures. The government must take the issue seriously and approach the International Court to stop Indian’s water aggression.

India can not be trusted as our friend as its politics is based on damaging Pakistan’s interest as much as it could. Pakistan so far has always demonstrated patience and adopt flexible attitude towards India but the later always keep causing damages to our country whenever it got chance. Islamabad always offered olive branch to Delhi by releasing its spies who even confessed their involvement in saboteur activates but in return Indian authorities keep delivering us dead Pakistani nationals. Pakistan must raise the issue of Bulgihyar Dam again in the international court to stop Indian water aggression which has become a living threat to our national’s economy and solidarity.
