Five new polio cases reported in Khyber Agency, SWA

Reshuffling in KP police dept, several officers transferred

 PESHAWAR (INP): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has made large scale reshuffling in provincial police department and transferred more than two dozen police officers.

In accordance with the communiqué issued by provincial government, 25 Assistant Commissioners (ACs), two Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and two additional commissioners have been transferred to other districts and cities.

DC Abbottabad Matiullah Khan has been given the charge of deputy secretary finance.

Zulfiqar Ali Shah, DC Mansehra has been given responsibility of Project Director IMU.  Additional Commissioner Malakand, Ikramullah has been transferred to Mardan.

The KP Police spokesperson said that the transfers were part of departmental procedure to enhance the performance and capabilities of the police officers.

Meanwhile, five new polio cases were reported in two tribal agencies on Thursday after which the tally has mounted to 127.

According to National Institute of Health (NIH) four children hailing from Khyber Agency and one from South Waziristan Agency (SWA) were found affected with polio virus.

With detection of five new cases the tally of polio affected children detected since Jan 01, 2014 has reached to 127.

Most of the polio cases have been reported from tribal areas where children were deprived of anti-polio vaccination to militancy and warning of militants to attack health workers engaged in administering polio vaccine.

Health Ministry expressing grave concern over the surge in polio cases, had advised the parents for vaccinating their children with anti-polio vaccination during campaigns launched time to time across the country.
