RAWALPINDI: The first Metro Bus Station located at Chandni Chowk has been completed while the construction work of Package II from Committee Chowk to Sixth Road Chowk has also been completed up to 95 percent.
The Executing agency National Logistic Cell assured that rest of work would be completed speedily. Chairman Metro Bus Project Muhammad Hanif Abbasi and Commissioner, Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed along with other elected representatives, engineers of National Logistic Cell visited the site and inspected ongoing construction work at Package II on Metro Project.
Talking on the occasion, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi termed Metro Project a remarkable initiative of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif who had realized the hardships of the commutes of twin cities and residents of suburbs and introduced such an innovated project which would cater the transportation requirements of citizens which is now in its final stage.
He said government is committed to resolve the grievances of people and mega projects had been started to overcome the pressing demands of energy and other similar necessities of life.
Commissioner, Rawalpindi Mr. Zahid Saeed said that despite of inclement weather and torrential rains, all efforts were being made to accomplish the task of Metro Bus Project as soon as possible. He said the project would provide travelers comfortable and very economically transportation facilities.
The officials of NLC informed that best quality material had been exported from USA, Germany, Italy, China and other countries and special focus has been laid to interior as well as exterior of the Metro Bus Stations, which would add the beauty of twin cities. They also informed that the 80% work of Waris Khan Metro Bus Station has been completed while 60% construction work of Rehman Abad Metro Bus Station had been successfully completed.
They further informed that although rains affected the pace of physical progress of work, however we are trying our best to discharge this responsibility without any further delay. It was also informed that 70% work of Murree Road under Metro Bus from Committee Chowk to Sixth Road had been completed and efforts were being made to complete the remaining work.
Meanwhile, the residents and traders appreciated the Metro Bus Project and said that fast means of communication and modern infrastructure would help to promote commercial activities and it would also save the precious time of employees and other travelers of twin cities.
