Due to the impact of the global pandemic Corona virus, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and the Belgian Hockey Federation have jointly decided to postpone the Indoor Hockey World Cup to be held in February next year from February 2 to 6, 2022. This is the sixth edition of the Indoor Hockey World Cup and 12 teams will participate in both the women and men sections. The last time the 2018 Indoor World Cup was held in Berlin, Germany, Austria and Germany in the men’s category were the winners. FIH Chief Executive Thierry Vail said that the Hockey Indoor World Cup is a tournament that creates a good atmosphere. In the current environment, the only option is to postpone the tournament in case of teams having difficulty traveling, qualifiers and absence of spectators at the venue. We thank the Belgian Hockey Association for their commitment to organize this tournament in 2022.
He said that in coordination with the province of Ledge we agreed that this is the right decision given the current health situation due to the epidemic. We hope that after the postponement of this tournament, Ledge will organize it later under the right conditions. But first we have to overcome this epidemic.
