Karachi: The world’s governing body of football, FIFA has suspended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) with immediate effect due to third-party interference.
According to the Bureau of the FIFA Council, the interference constitutes a serious violation of article 16 of the FIFA Statutes. Remember, Syed Ashfaq Hussain-led group took over the PFF house charge forcefully from the FIFA-installed Normalisation Committee.
Later on, FIFA reacted on this matter on March 30 and warned the Ashfaq-led group to return PFF headquarters to the NC within a day.
Ashfaq, who was elected PFF president after winning the elections conducted under the supervision of the Supreme Court, refused to return the office which has led Pakistan to suspension once again.
“This suspension will only be lifted once FIFA has received confirmation from the normalisation committee of the PFF that the PFF’s premises, accounts, administration and communication channels are again under its full control and it can continue to carry out its mandate without further hindrance,” FIFA said in its press release. Meanwhile, the suspension can be lifted by the Bureau of the FIFA council at any time before the next FIFA Congress meeting.
