Islamabad:Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, addressed key questions regarding Pakistan’s passport system in the National Assembly today, emphasizing that “the respect for the green passport comes from fixing our house (country), not just making it colorful or visually appealing.”
The Minister strongly condemned certain short-sighted elements attempting to pass anti-Pakistan resolutions in foreign countries, which undermine the prestige of Pakistani passports. He stated, “The respect our passport held on May 9 has increased a hundredfold by May 10, 2025.”
Acknowledging flaws in the passport system, Dr. Tariq revealed that “in the past, passports were issued to individuals who were not Pakistani citizens, with a significant number granted to Afghan nationals.”
Highlighting efforts to facilitate overseas Pakistanis, the Minister announced that “all embassies and consulates have been directed to provide the best possible services to expatriate Pakistanis.”
On political unity, Dr. Tariq stated, “Pakistan Peoples Party and MQM are our allies.” He stressed the importance of consultation over criticism, urging that “issues should be resolved through dialogue in the Assembly rather than confrontation.”
Regarding development projects, the Minister noted that “motorway construction has always been a top priority of PML-N, and we are expanding the network across the country.”
He also mentioned relief measures for Balochistan, revealing that “the province has been given Rs. 100 billion in electricity price relief.” The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to “progress and prosperity for all provinces.”
Concluding his address, Dr. Tariq emphasized, “There is no discrimination against any province or individual in Pakistan. We are following an inclusive policy that brings everyone forward together
