KARACHI (NNI): In a bid to unravel the knots around the case regarding attack on SSP Farooq Awan, the city police carried out raids on the hideouts of the banned outfits and arrested at least 18 suspected persons.
The areas where the raids were conducted overnight, include Sohrab Goth, Manghopir, Pirabad, Steel Town and Quaidabad.
The arrested suspects have been transported to undisclosed location where they are being interrogated.
It should be mentioned here that senior anti-terror police officer SSP Farooq Awan was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb planted in a vehicle in Defence area of Karachi on Thursday evening. The formidable blast claimed lives of two passers-by and wounded eight others, including two women and two police personnel.
The top police officer escaped but with minor injuries.
