LAHORE: The Farmers Union on Thursday staged a protest on Multan Road against the sales tax on agriculture inputs.
The protest rally participated by farmers from across the province was stopped by the Punjab Police at Chohang. As a result people faced problems as the traffic on Multan Road was blocked. The farmers have demanded the government to determine a fixed rate of the import prices of crops.
The protesters have also demanded the government to ensure uninterrupted power supply for the tube wells. They have demanded measures to lessen the production costs of crops.
Long queues of vehicles were seen on Multan Road due to the protest.
