COAS has rightly responded to the naive assertions of US. He has assured US that we are not in need of any financial backing. Trump’s bitter remarks have generated quite an emotional response throughout the country. But our diplomatic ties with other countries are far more different than the internal politics. It isn’t possible and is not in the national interest to have an extreme aggressive stance on Trump’s polices. Rather there was a need to respond diplomatically that has fittingly been depicted by our COAS. Pakistan needs to focus on the long term impacts of this enmity which might not be in favor of the country. The strategy to tackle with the Trump’s policy of South Asia needs Pakistan to contest for its position. It requires our government to dig deeper into this stance and to come up with a silent protest. Trump held that Pakistan might lose a lot if it keeps on its stubborn attitude and doesn’t change its ways. But the reality is quite contradictory as Pakistan has already lost a lot. Pakistan, no doubt has to bring all the allies on one page including Russia and China. Engagement of India in Afghanistan is definitely going to have serious implications for the country. Any sort of under reaction on this chaos that has been created by the Trump administration will undermine the sacrifices that have been laid forward by the Pakistani nation. Trump, while speaking on the South Asia’s policy has neglected the Indian atrocities in Kashmir. He also overlooked activities of the Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) in Baluchistan. The later one has repeatedly been proved. Instead US was able to identify Haqqani Network which is obviously no longer present in Pakistan. It seems as if US has totally turned its eyes from the practicalities of the failed Afghan war of 16 years. Over 100,000 American troops was a failure but expanding the war with few more will bring triumph to the war, as per Trump. Moreover, US is providing a clean chit to India by making it an important stakeholder in Afghan war. India has already been using Afghanistan to conduct terrorist acts in the Pakistani soil. Pakistan will not accept to become a morsel of such flaunt policy after it lost over 60,000 soldiers and civilians in its war on terror.
