Islamabad (PR): A video link operational meeting was held Wednesday under the chairmanship of Inspector General, National Highways & Motorway Police, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema at Islamabad.

All Zonal DIsG and SSsP participated in the meeting. Important operational matters were discussed in detail. Speaking on the occasion, the Inspector General said proper use of hooters and public address systems, installed in patrolling vehicles, should be made mandatory for the patrolling officers to improve the quality of patrolling. The Inspector General directed all zonal DIsG and sector SSsP to start surprise checking at zonal and sector level. He passed directions to make patrolling more effective and meaningful.

He was of the strong opinion that only proper enforcement of traffic laws can bring discipline on roads and could save precious human lives by reducing the number of fatal accidents. The Inspector General also directed the Commandant NH&MP Training College to ensure that modules of training college are at par with international standards. He further directed that more in-service capacity building courses should be started, especially for the newly promoted and field officers.

The Inspector General informed the participating officers that the Government of Pakistan had issued notification for continuation of pay with all benefits for ‘Shaheed’ officers of NH&MP. At the end of the meeting, Inspector General thanked the HEC for their cooperation.
