Once again Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf hussain became reason for the embarrassing situation of the party on Monday when he instigated his party workers to attack private media houses in Karachi. Workers of the party after listening to the telephonic speech of party head from London went to certain media houses and attacked the journalists and damaged the offices. After getting instructions, party activists ransacked offices of Samaa and ARY News, in result of violent protests and MQM mob attacking private buildings at least one person died and many other received injuries. The embarrassing episode of MQM violence resulted in the arrest of top party leaders including Dr Farooq Sattar, Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hasan and Aamir Liaquat Hussain and after holding them from party office at nine zero Rangers seized various party offices.
This was one part of the drama; real humiliation for the MQM was in raising anti-Pakistan slogans. As it happens often Altaf Hussain once again tendered an apology for his venomous speech. It was said that due to the mental stress embarrassing statements were passed by the party head. Next day while addressing to press conference Dr Farooq Sattar denounced all the anti-Pakistan slogans. He also suggested that if MQM chief was passing derogatory and anti-state remarks due to some mental illness he needs cure because he has ridiculed party workers quite often in recent times.
For all the right reasons almost all other political parties lamented chief of MQM for anti-Pakistan slogans and for inciting violence. Some are of the view that treason cases should be lodged against MQM. Party workers have found themselves in bizarre situation, they are trying to rebrand party with soft image but one venomous speech from Chief ruins all the development.
All the culprits must be dealt with iron hands for inciting violence and damaging private property.
