ISLAMABAD, Dec 02 (INP): President Mamnoon Hussain has said that militancy in the country was under control and the menace would be completely eradicated soon.
Talking to a delegation of General Electric Company (GEC) led by its Chief Financial Officer, Mr Frederick which called on him here at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday, Mamnoon Hussain said that elimination of militancy would help boost foreign investment as Pakistan offered the best trade regulations in the region. He said Pakistan was on the right path as its economy was growing better than regional countries despite international economic crisis. The government was working on several important projects for next four years, which would create business opportunities for foreign investors, he added. The President wooed the GEC to benefit from investment opportunities in Pakistan and invited it to particularly invest in power and railways sectors. He appreciated the company for its support in Pakistan’s energy, transport and aviation sectors, which he hoped, would strengthen in future.
He said the Prime Minister and his energy team was determined to end the power crisis in the country, adding that the problem would be overcome during the tenure of present government. The President expressed his hope that the government’s efforts would help eradicate polio at national level.
The meeting was attended by Chairman Board of Investment (BoI) Miftah Ismail, BoI Secretary Syed Iftikhar Hussain Babar, Secretary Petroleum and Natural Resources Abid Saeed, Secretary Planning Commission Hassan Nawaz Tarar, Secretary Railways Perveen Agha, Secretary Water and Power Muhammad Younus Dagha and President’s Secretary Ahmed Farooq.
