SHEIKHUPURA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of Bakhi power plant on Friday which will provide up to 1080 Megawatt of electricity. PM said that he had never committed to eradication of electricity in a time frame of 6 months. He said that electricity shortage problem cannot be solved by standing on containers alone.
Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said everything in Pakistan works in a way it’s not supposed to and to rectify the problem the current government has worked very hard.
The Prime Minister said in his speech that electricity comes from hard work and not standing atop of containers and burning bills. He said that the government had brought down the expenses of the project from Rs 95 billion to Rs 55 billion, He said that politicians should come out of ‘politics of abusing’. He also appreciated the efforts of CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and team over the project.
Nawaz Sharif said that the situation had taken a turn for the worse in the last 20-30 years and previous governments had not taken any steps to improve the dire situation of electricity.
Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that terrorism and energy crisis are 2 key issues.Under Operation Zarb-e-Azb, Pakistani armed forces have cramped terrorism and its operators. He offered rich tribute to the efforts of soldiers who have offered immense sacrifice for the elimination of terrorism.
Important public figures, including Governor Punjab were also present at the event.
