QUETTA, Sept 19 (INP): The Balochistan Election Tribunal on Friday ordered re-election in NA-267 after finding evidence of poll rigging.
During May 11, 2013 general elections, the tribunal had rejected the victory of Nawabzada Khalid Magsi as an independent Member of the National Assembly.
Mir Abdul Rahim, an independent candidate, had challenged the election of Magsi. Rahim had pleaded before the tribunal that elections on several polling stations were rigged by Magsi’s supporters.
After conducting hearings, the tribunal found the elections were indeed rigged by Magsi’s supporters.
Tribunal judge Muhammad Kakar ordered the concerned authorities to ensure immediate re-election on the NA seat.
Nawabzada Magsi is the younger brother of former Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Magsi. He served as the Nazim of Jhal Magsi district during former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s regime.
