Shehbaz Sharif returns after completing US, London visits

By Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday summoned a meeting of the National Security Committee amid echoes of audio leaks. The meeting will be called by the prime minister on Wednesday, according to sources. The leaders of all three armed forces, as well as federal ministers and committee members, will attend the meeting. According to sources, the authorities will be briefed on security issues, including audio leaks from the Prime Minister's House, during the meeting. Previously, a number of audio recordings purportedly of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussing various government and party matters with his aides and other officials had been leaked. The incident has raised concerns about the Prime Minister's Office's security (PMO). However, the government has yet to make a statement on the matter. A voice said to be PM Shehbaz could be heard saying in the over two-minute-long audio clip that Maryam Nawaz had asked him to help her son-in-law with the import of machinery from India. "If we do that, we will face a lot of criticism when this matter goes to the ECC and cabinet," the official is heard saying in the audio clip. At this point, the alleged Prime Minister's voice can be heard saying, "The son-in-law is very dear to Maryam Nawaz." Tell her about it logically, and then I'll talk to her." The same voice agrees that this would be bad for optics and could cause political problems. There is a mention at the end of the audio clip of former Justice Maqbool Baqir, whose name was being considered as the next head of the National Accountability Bureau. The official is heard conveying to the premier the'suggestion' of two media persons, requesting that he not consider the former judge for the position of NAB chairman, based on their experience with former NAB chief Javed Iqbal, who was also appointed by the PML-N government. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif returned to Pakistan on Monday after visiting the United States and London. The PM represented Pakistan at the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in the United States.

SK Niazi pays special tribute to the martyrs helicopter incident in Balochistan

This is hilarious and really bad for those who do this to their respected ministers, also expressed concern about the audio leak of the PM, Further delays on the Swan River and Lai Nullah would be experienced at the residences of Islamabad and Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: "First of all, I pay special tribute to the martyrs of the Choppers incident in Balochistan." These words are Sardar Khan Niazi, editor in chief of Roze TV and head of the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors, talking in "Sachi Baat". In the aforementioned incident, he expressed sorrow and grief and said, "This is the second incident in a few months and we lost our brave soldiers." In the first segment, General Retired Khalid Naeem Lodhi was the guest and he talked about the chopper incident and said, "My condolences to the martyr’s family. “May Allah bless them with a high rank in Jannah". The defense analyst raised serious concerns about the audio leak of the Prime Minister's secret talks with the government body and party leaders. The return of Ishaq Dar and a positive trend in the stock exchange saw the rupee gain 3.65 against the US dollar. The program host, S.K. Niazi, said that Ishaq Dar is a prominent, experienced, and well-known figure in internal as well as IMF matters. "I am sure he will do better and the economic conditions will be on the right track," S.K. Niazi said. The host expressed sorrow, grief, and concern about the audio leak of the Prime Minister. Investors and enemies of the state are involved in the conspiracy and want to sabotage the system. If the PM's house is not secure, then tell me what the safe place is. In the movement, this is the favor of the only party, which is unfortunate. This should be stopped immediately. Qamar Zaman Kaira also expressed concern over Maryam Aurangzeb's case. The unfortunate incident happened with the Federal Minister of Information, Maryam Aurangzeb. The host said, "This is hilarious and really bad for those who do this to their respected ministers, as the one party's followers did with Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb. This culture should be stopped; otherwise, the consequences would be shocking. " The mother of all problems regarding climate change is the illegal encroachment around the Swan River and Lai Nullah. This is the track recorded by the S.K Nazi; he highlighted this issue on every platform to get a proper and valuable solution to it. But due to administrative hurdles, the work has not been done as it should be done. Chaudhry Muhammad Adnan, a member of PTI, also participated in the program where he gave a special thanks to the host for raising awareness of climate change and the devastation ahead of time. As usual on today's talk show, the host talked about it and suggested, "Without any delay, the work should start on it. Further delays would be experienced at the residences of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The host talked with a senior politician, Sheikh Rashid Shafique. The host asked, "In Punjab, your party is ruling. Why are they not serious about Swan River and Lai Nullah? “On this question, the guest did not give a clear answer and said, "That is my constituency," to which the host asked, "You are representing the entire city. Talking about your constituency is unjustifiable. “Later, the guest, Sheikh Rashid Shafique, agreed with the host and said, "Soon the issue will be addressed." The host concluded, "It is time to take practical steps for the solution. There is no more time to make statements about serious issues."

ECP reserves verdict in Dar’s empty Senate seat case

By Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has reserved its verdict in a case seeking to declare Ishaq Dar’s Senate seat empty as the latter has not taken oath to his office. A bench of Election Commission heard the case on Monday. Lawyer Salman Aslam Butt appeared before the commission on behalf of Dar. During hearing, ECP Balochistan member observed that the government had issued an ordinance that stipulated that if a member did not take oath to his Senate seat within 60 days, his seat would be deemed empty. Lawyer Butt said that Dar’s notification regarding winning of Senate seat was issued on March 9 and it was suspended on 29th March, 2018. However, the success notification was restored again after the Supreme Court rejected the petition against the notification. The lawyer argued that the ordinance did not apply on Ishaq Dar as he could not take oath to his seat when his success notification was already suspended. The ECP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa member said the question before the bench was: whether Dar had been disqualified or not? The lawyer contended that under Article 63-P, no one could be disqualified under a law introduced through an ordinance. He further told the bench that the ordinance had already been expired. He petitioned the Election Commission to withdraw the notification regarding declaring Dar’s Senate seat empty.

Integration of development, social spending must for economic prosperity: WealthPK

By Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD: The integration of development and social spending is a must for the sustainable economic prosperity of any country and improvement of the living standard of its people, WealthPK reports. It is believed that sustainable economic prosperity will remain a far cry as long as development is not evenly shared in such a way that it is integrated with social spending on healthcare, education, housing and clean water. Ijaz Ali, a research fellow at the Centre for Business and Economic Research (CBER) Karachi, told WealthPK that developed countries have a “functioning system of welfare.” He said that historical data showed that countries, which were first to develop on modern lines, had to switch towards a shared form of development. “A shared form of development necessitated governments taking steps, such as including more and more people in the domain of a rewarding regime. In this respect, successive English governments, in the nineteenth century, introduced reforms to promote education and improve living conditions of people,” said Ijaz Ali. He said that the reforms introduced by Gladstone in the field of education were some of the most important policy steps taken in that period. He made primary education universal and free of cost. After some time, this policy was extended to secondary education as well. During the same period, women were also given opportunities to get an education. “Leaving women outside the domain of economic activity is a big mistake. Development is a process that, in essence, changes the whole visual sense of society. This is not possible without spending money on inclusive policies of education, women empowerment, healthcare and housing,” said Ijaz Ali. He said that the 21st century changed the whole debate about development. The information revolution has made it a necessity that traditional development models should be integrated with the concepts of a welfare state. No economy has ever thrived in a volatile situation. Spending money on social protection is not less important than the utilisation of funds for communication infrastructure and energy projects. The visual sense of society is important because it helps people to imagine where they want to go. “If you do not know where you want to go, you will get to nowhere. Shared development is the only viable policy option left to meet the challenges of the 21st century,” said Ijaz Ali. He that shared development is basically an aggregating policy. It helps in bringing as many people as possible in the middle. It raises those, who are below the aggregate level, by instituting redistributive policies. Redistribution is a concept that is still not properly understood by market pundits. “It is so because it involves other dynamics of politics, history, geography and culture. They all play out at the same time in the real world,” he told WealthPK.

Imran Khan dubs Ishaq Dar biggest conman of Pakistan

By Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD: Former premier Imran Khan Monday dubbed former finance minister Ishaq Dar the biggest conman of Pakistan and said that he flew abroad because he had no answer to the questions of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) about his assets. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman stated during a speech at the Government College University (GCU) in Lahore that Ishaq Dar fled the country on the prime minister's plane. "He fled the country under the guise of seeking treatment." "Three and a half years have passed, and we still don't know what treatment he is seeking abroad," Imran Khan bemoaned. Imran Khan stated that Ishaq Dar would return as part of a deal. "Deals are made with thieves here." They receive NRO. As a result, theft continues. As a result, the country does not progress. As a result, money laundering continues." "I want to ask a question on behalf of the entire nation," he added. Are you going to watch this play like sheep and goats, or will you become a man and stand up to oppression and injustice?" "The story began with Wikileaks," he added. Then there were Dawn leaks, and now there are audio leaks. These audio leaks have made one thing abundantly clear: the current chief election commissioner is the Sharif family's house servant." "Nawaz Sharif tells him who should be disqualified," he claimed. For three years, I fought for the introduction of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the country to ensure free and fair elections. However, at the request of Nawaz and Zardari, the chief election commissioner refused to allow EVMs.If he has a fraction of shame, he should resign today. And if he does not do so, we will have to make him resign.” He also lambasted Maryam Nawaz for ‘lying blatantly’. Earlier in his speech, Imran Khan quoted Aristotle, saying, "About 2,500 years ago, Aristotle said that if there is oppression and injustice in a society, all sections of society will come forward to counter it except two: the cowards and the selfish."

Sheikh Rashid believes economy too far gone for Ishaq Dar to repair

By Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader and Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rashid slammed the impending return of former federal finance minister Ishaq Dar, noting that the economy was too far gone even for the famed financial wizard to fix. Rashid had some choice words about the impending return of Dar to the country after a nearly five-year absence in a message posted on the social media site Twitter on Monday, as the government seeks to take the gloves off in tackling runaway inflation and other poor economic indicators while consolidating itself ahead of elections next year. He claimed that a man who was declared an absconder fled the country in the official plane of the prime minister and is now returning to Pakistan in the official plane of another prime minister. Rashid added that this demonstrated the former finance minister's and the current government's shamelessness and belligerence. According to the former railways and interior minister, the PML-N bringing back Dar to help fix the economy demonstrates their desperation. He also expressed concern that reviving the agreement with the IMF did not result in the promised benefits. He went on to ask what Dar would do differently to control the prices of the US dollar, power, and flour that Miftah Ismail had not already tried. He warned that if the country's political impasse continues, the poor will suffer. Rashid slammed the government, claiming that a decision on the future of the government coalition led by the PDM would be made by November 15, and that the emergence of audio leaks from the highest offices was concerning.
