ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) at a meeting here Wednesday decided to hold the first phase of Local Government Elections in Punjab and Sindh Provinces on 12th October, 2015.
The Commission will issue the schedule for first phase of LGEs on 21st August, 2015.
The Election Commission has also decided to hold election to the seats of Nazim and Naib Nazim of district/city/tehsil/ town councils as well as Nazim and Naib Nazim of those Neighbourhood/Village Councils of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 30th August.
Meanwhile the official results of the local government elections held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been announced. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leads with 395 candidates elected to the district council.
In second place is Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI-F) with 132 candidates elected, while ANP comes a close third with 128 candidates and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) follows with 118 candidates elected to the district councils.
Jamat-e-Islami (JI) candidates secured 65 while 51 candidates of the Pakistan Peoples Party were elected to the district council.
