ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday disqualified a member of Punjab Assembly of PML-N Shaukat Aziz Bhatti over possessing fake degree case.
Bhatti was elected an MPA from PP-4 Gujar Khan on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ticket in 2013 general elections.
A five member bench of ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan heard the application seeking disqualification of the MPA.
A citizen Iftikhar Kayani had moved the ECP for his disqualification. The ECP bench after hearing the arguments of counsels of the petitioner and defendant disqualified Bhatti as member of Punjab Assembly. The ECP ordered re-election on the seat Bhatti was elected from.
