DSP shot dead, son injured in Peshawar firing

PESHAWAR: Unknown armed men gunned down a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and injured his son here on Saturday evening. Police said that unidentified miscreants sprayed bullets at DSP Riaz ul Islam and his son as they came out of mosque after offering ‘Maghrib’ prayers in Faqirabad locality of the provincial capital Peshawar injuring both of them critically. The assailants fled from the scene after committing the crime. The injured were rushed to hospital where doctors DSP Riaz ul Islam was pronounced dead while his son was under treatment. The slain official was deployed in the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). Police said they had kicked off investigations into the incident. INP
