LAHORE: Saad Rafique and Mian Naseer were not found involved in rigging according to the detailed verdict of Election Tribunal (ET) on Tuesday.
According to the detailed verdict, poling staff was also not found guilty of any foul play in NA-125. ET ordered re-election due to irregularities in the process of election. ET ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold the election for NA-125 according to the law. Detailed verdict said that lawful action will be taken against the polling staff involved in irregularities.
80 pages detailed verdict was issued by Justice Javed Rasheed, which stated that there are proofs of negligence and serious mistakes during the election of NA-125. According to the verdict, many counter s files and voting lists were missing from many polling station of the constituency while 3 voters casted double votes.
The verdict stated that NADRA has clearly said in its report that 1352 thumb impressions were checked from which 1254 were verified while 84 thumb impressions could not be verified. According to the report, thumb impressions on 14 counter’s files were proved fake.
Tribunal’s judge also said in the verdict that the record of ballet papers and counter’s files was missing from many polling stations while no proof against polling staff was found. No proof of use of power or fraud was also found against the polling staff.
Plaintiff could not prove any accusation against Saad Rafique while the plaintiff also failed to provide any evidence against him during cross examination. NNI
